Gartner analyst Ken Dulaney told iPod Observer in an interview that he believes Apple has ordered a second batch of 3G iPhone, amounting to 10 million more units on top of the original 10 million first generation iPhone that Apple had already ordered and committed to sell by end of 2008.

Dulaney also speculated that the new 3G iPhone would use Organic Light Emitting Diode (OLED) display, resulting in a thinner form factor. Using OLED display may cost more, but will help increase battery life due to lower power consumption. This makes sense because 3G is power hungry and Apple must do everything possible to retain the current battery life or even yet improve on it.
